I wish I had swans of bryn argoll. That said, cost reduction effects do fuck-all with things like boros charm and lightning bolt. I don't feel like you have a way to utilize a bunch of 1/1s without an attack phase, and not in any super effective way.

  well the 1/1/s can quickly become 2/2s with curse of the swine :D but you are right the cost reduction doesn't help with those... but they also are effective at stopping threats, gaining cards or protecting creatures.
